Bury Golf Club hosted a highly successful Winter Open Golf Competition on 31st January 2025, with golfers enjoying an 18-hole Stableford format on a course in superb condition despite the heavy rainfall earlier in the year. Men played from the yellow tees, and ladies could play from either yellow or red tees (handicap adjusted), with no mats being used, all fairways were open, and summer greens were in play. The mild winter weather, with temperatures around 7°C and only a slight breeze, contributed to a fair yet challenging competition, free from winter mats and temporary greens. The event showcased excellent organisation and dedication from the greens staff, ensuring optimal playing conditions.

The leaderboard was closely contested, with Colin Stephenson scoring 34 points and Paul Carr, the runner-up and winner of the best visitor prize, achieving 33 points. All participants received the day well, with positive feedback on the smooth greens, well-maintained fairways, and friendly atmosphere.
