Good Morning All
I don't know what was more surprising yesterday, the fact we actually played any Golf, or the fact that the Course was a lot drier than thought, and even the greens retained some firmness - Thanks to DB for getting us out there. I know some may have been disappointed we only played 13 holes - however certain areas of the course where wetter than others, such as the slope heading up the 11th Fairway, the 12th Fairway and especially the approach to the 14th Green and coming off the 15th Tee. Not ideal for those playing Matchplay, but it is what it is and the same for both Pairs.
Well it was as tough as it gets yesterday in that Wind, even though some tees are forward, it played long on certain holes - Unless your Name was Richardson, especially Ollie, who must of at times struggled to stand up in that wind. Both Ollie and his old man totally smashed it yesterday, both going out in 1 over Gross and young Ollie scoring 24 points and Richie a little behind on 20 - Brilliant golf in that wind and I applaud you both 👏👏👏👏. Finishing Runners up on the dave where Parky and Belly on 48 points, beating Holty and Vice Elect 'Mozzer' on a CPO on the BACK 9 with 10 points against their 9 Points.
Now I know it was windy yesterday and when we teed off I am sure the wind was blowing left to right across the first hole - however it must of completely changed direction when Morecambe teed off and was blowing straight at him, as he is pictured here taking his second shot at the first - Thanks to Ed Jones for the picture - there was a reason you played at 11.30 Ed, it was to capture Morecambe. If you look closely for the Silly pants, you will see him.
It was tough enough hitting the First Green yesterday as it was, but I know at least 3 of you did, however the winner of Nearest the Pin Yesterday was Dave Slingsby with 5ft 7" - and that now becomes the nearest overall, shaking Mike Scrivner from his leading position, 'Slingers' has had his Pro Shop account credited with £13.20.
Only 4 x 2's yesterday recorded at 17 (£8.25 per player) - unlucky to anybody else who recorded a 2 at 1 or 10 (Dave Slingsby / Phil Neary) as no pay out I am afraid.
As the deadline for Round 1 of the Knockouts passes, Round 2 is on the Horizon and must be completed by Monday 5th January - Giving you 15th, 22nd, 29th and 5th to arrange your best card and the 22nd, 29th and 5th to arrange your Matchplay - I would contact your opponents asap as in this week to arrange a Date to play (Even if that means its on the 5th) if you don't contact them then you wont know who is available and when - I see the usual suspects have been on it already and arranged their matches, some have even done it for next week, Thanks to all who have done - I will pick one of the pairs from each game and pass you your opponents numbers - so you can contact each other.
This coming Sunday 15th the Format is Foursomes - This is an alternative shot format - Player A tees off the Odd numbered holes and Player B the Even numbered holes. On the first Hole Player A Tees off - Player B plays 2nd shot and you alternate until you finish the hole. Player B then tees off the 2nd Hole Player A plays 2nd shot and again alternate until you finish the hole. This is not to be confused with 'Fruity Foursomes' which is complete alternate Shots.
If anybody needs a Sub please let me know.
Have a Good Week
