Winter League Week 6 - Bogey BB Medal

Good Day to you all

After last weeks enforced lay off, I am sure it was good to get back out on the Course - for the early starters they did have to endure the rain for an hour or so, but as hardened proper Winter Leaguers, they battled on until the clouds parted, and then the Sun shone - I wonder if it was anything to do with GOD stepping onto the first Tee at the same time, as Trev's Partner? Well it was the Dreaded Format of 'Bogey' Betterball - by dreaded I mean the least popular of all the formats we play, as it does not reward good golf - Typical example, score a 3 on the 6th or a 5 with a shot - Same result - a Win! Having said that I am sure the winners yesterday James 'Black' Adler and Paul 'Laffy' Davis may disagree and I know the Runners up Steve 'Hammertime' Hamer and Mark 'Seeless' Seymour definitely do as they always score well in this format. Both pairs yesterday ended up winning 13 of the 18 holes, however Hammertime and Seeless did lose 2 holes to finish 11up - whilst Black Adler and Laffy halved 5 Holes and finished on a exceptional 13 up. Please see photo of our Winners, Black Adler on the Right and Laffy on the left - Now I have no idea how many drinks Laffy had at the time of the Photo, but I think it must be quite a few after looking at his eyes, and I can only assume that something amused James at the time of the Photo (Is that Simon Templar on the sign in the Background - if you are under 40, Google that). I do have a Physio appointment this afternoon for my back, as I had to Carry Trev round the course yesterday 🎺🎺🎺 - Whilst watching Hammertime and Seeless play some great golf and taking £3.50 off us.

Well done to Tony 'Curtly' Ambrose as he won the NP this Sunday with a Shot to 6ft 10" - £14 goes on your Pro Shop Account - Place now booked in to the End of Season Shoot out on the First Hole.

There where a handful of 2's yesterday on 14 and 17 - but only 1 counting 2 was recorded on 1st Hole and Willy takes the £70, shared with his long time suffering partner 'Santa Jolley' £35 each.

We are now 6 weeks in to the Season and the League Table is still sorting itself out, but it is Noticeable that the usual suspects have a 5 point lead over the 'Halls Bros' 6 Points over Nutty and Eamon, with others placed well, but there is a long way to go - with the current length of the season going to be 20 weeks (with your best 15 rounds counting) there is a lot of shots to be lost.

Thanks go again to the subs who turned out yesterday - especially Dougie who has now played in every week of the WL so far - the subs are a blessing for anybody who wants to play when their partners cant - Remember you can use 3 subs in the first 9 weeks of the league and another 3 in the remainder of the weeks - Trev and Steve K have now used all of their quota for the first 9 weeks. If you have to use a sub, and you are at the end of your Quota - then you can and you can win the Comp, but you cant get any WL Points.

Thanks to all those for playing their KO's this week, or have arranged for next week (Final week) if we are unfortunate and don't play next Sunday, I will extend to the 15th and change the format on the day to make sure you can play Matchplay. Please see the attached Knockout Draw which has a deadline of Sunday 5th January - Please look to arrange your game asap if you can. Some will have to wait until they know their opponents, as some games are due to be played Sunday coming - I will send the Draws out on the WhatsApp group today as well.

The WL will run all through December this year as we have no Turkey shoots arranged for a Sunday as would normally happen.

As long as the weather does not cause us any disruption, then the formats for coming weeks will be as follows -

Sunday 8th December - Both to Score Front 9 S/Ford - 4BBB back 9 S/Ford - Sunday 15th - Foursomes - Sunday 22nd - 4 Clubs and a Putter 4BBB Medal - Sunday 29th - DAMIAN (All  S/Ford)- Holes 1 - 6 Multiplier - Holes 7 - 12 - Both to Score - Holes 13 - 18 - 4BBB. As you can see other than 15th - Matchplay can be played on any of the Dates.
