Good Morning one and all (Especially those who take an interest outside the WL and read these reports - its more than some in the League do)
Well a kind morning greeted you all yesterday as the weather turned out to be ok, and I hoped you all enjoyed the 18 holes you played, and I hope you won your little side Bet against your opponents - £5 and 50p bits does seem to be the popular side bet, mind you after this weeks Budget be careful its not Tax deductible!!
Before I go into the goings on from yesterday, the Main Photo this week is of our Pro, James, who celebrated his first year with us the other day and I am sure I speak for the majority of us in wishing him many more to come.
So A bit of normality yesterday with the Format, straight forward 4 BBB Medal (Thanks to Craig and Cosmo for the last minute change and using the New Cards, as the old ones had the wrong Stroke Indices on them). Our Winners on the Day with a Fine 58 Nett were Steve 'Hammertime' Hamer and his long suffering Partner Mark 'Sad Eyes 🦮🦯 ' Seymour - they scored Nett 29 on both 9's, so well done boys - shot loss of 3.4 and 4.1 🪓🪓🪓🪓respectively - Enjoy the £54 👏👏👏. There were 3 scores of 60 tying for the Runners up spot - Morecambe / Si - John / Shaun and Ian / Steve - 'Tooley and Whatsuppppp' Had a Nett 30 on Back 9 - John / Shaun had a Nett 28 and Morecambe / Si had a Nett 27 to take the runners up spot and each receive a 1.5 shot reduction.
Some may note that the CPO is done differently than last week, this is purely down to the Formats. Last week you knocked your Joint Handicaps off your Gross score after the round, this week you knock your shots off each Hole you get a shot at, which gives you a Nett Score in the End. You then have a count back on the Back 9, 6 Ect - similar to S/Ford, only this way its the lowest score that wins, S/Ford is the Highest - may seem obvious to some, but not others.
2's this week paid out £7.20 per player in you got 1 on the 10th, 14th or any Par 4 - Just Like Jay Wright did on 18 yesterday, which helped him and Cosmo beat 'Hair Flick' and 'Passport2' (Gaz Taylor / Rob Bamping) in a CPO on the Back 6. As a Reminder to you all about the 2's Pot, Any Hole in one will take all the Money in the Pot on any given WL Sunday.
Thanks to you all for completing the Knockouts 2 weeks ahead of Schedule - that helps so much in the Grand scheme of things, but pointless if people now wait to play their First round games on the 15th of Next Month - Best card can be arranged to be played any week - the Matchplay events you can play in all Formats Bar 1 over the coming weeks, so I ask you to arrange yours ASAP and let me know - we already have a pair waiting in Round 2 👍👍
Well Done Yesterday to Mike Scrivner, who won the NP with his Floated 3 Iron Hitting the the Bank and rolling to 6ft 3" and now leading in the Nearest Pin overall. Mike can be seen pictured here with his Glove Puppet 'Orville' sat on his knee. £14.40 credited to his account in Pro Shop. Please remember to measure this in Feet and Inches, if lucky enough to hit the Green and be in with a Chance.
Going Forward the start sheet shall be amended, as it was for this Sunday. You all put down at your desired times each and every week, but in certain cases this does leave tee times spare, and I want to condense the field as much as possible each week. I will address this every Thursday and ask Parky, James or Craig to close the Tee times up and free up spaces at the back end of the Field for any Visitors that may want to come and play. Let me Stress here that Members get priority up to and Including Thursday Morning - and if you are not down I will mither you anyway to see if you are playing. Apologies in advance for this, but it does need to be done. If you have any issues any week about this and you have to play at a particular Tee time due to other commitments, then please let me know. Can we also look at spreading ourselves about with parings every week, there are the odd couple who keep playing with each other. The WL is all about getting to know other members - Don't Be Shy!!
Next Sundays format will be any 4 Clubs plus a Putter - So you can Choose any 4 Clubs but you must Also have a putter. You Must only carry your chosen clubs and your putter in your Golf bag - leave all others in your car or at Home. If you are found to be in breach of the Club allocation, then you will not be able to score until you rectify the miscalculation. You may Bag share if you wish with your Partner, but you must only use YOUR clubs - sharing Clubs will result in immediate DQ. I would like to encourage all players to carry rather than use an electric Trolley for 4 or even 8 Clubs - I understand there may be medical exemptions for some however. Remember choose wisely your 4 Clubs 👍
I go to Budapest next Sunday afternoon and I have asked Dave Bell to check the cards fully in my absence, and I will hopefully get the results to you at some point during the week.
Please all Note that This coming Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and we shall Pay our respects to the 'Fallen Heroes of yesteryear' at 11am and I would ask all players to observe a 2 Minutes silence at 11am - Craig will sound the Hooter to start and Finish this.
Have a Great Week ahead
