Good Day to you all
Well we seem to be back to the Rain again after a short break from it, and throw the wind in there as well - Sunday was not the best - but some tried and some gave in - I guess the decision to walk in was made after a bad start in Multiplier? After speaking to the odd few, the course was more than playable - but i get the walking in, or not even starting - But will those who did regret it come the final week and their finishing position in the league?
I guess you can make this format a little easier by swapping around Multiplier with the Betterball, but then why make it easy? the last 3 weeks need to be tough.
Congratulations to Mrs Browns Boys Jude and Stu (pictured above), who smashed the field by 8 points and take the money and the 15 points pulling them up the table in to the 'Respectability Zone' . Our runners up on the day where Les and Coco (Battersby / Winstanley) and as I have no other image to feature, I will give them their 15 mins of Fame. Well done to all on a bad day (made even worse as the Dippers homed in on their 20th title, by completely playing with City at the emptypad and never broke sweat) weather wise.
Our winner this week was Dave Gamble with 5ft 10" - And Dave now gives himself another shot in the Shoot out Final After also winning in week 12. (we have 5 Different Dave's in the shoot out - Parky, Flanny, Slingers, Jolly Hockey Sticks and Mr Gamble). The Pot will be capped at £350 (it currently stands at £317.70 so need just £32.30 to achieve that, which we will get over the final 2 weeks) and will be distributed as £50 to the winner of being nearest over the weeks - £30 to 3rd in the shoot out - £70 to runner-up - £200 to the winner of the Shoot out - this will all be paid out on the day at the presentation.
I think I need to clarify something here - If you intend to walk off the course at any point, then your round is over, furthermore you can not decide to finish after 5 and then walk to 17 and try to record a 2 as that was the nominated hole. You must at all times play continuous holes over those that are declared open, and in the case of Sundays Comp, this was all 18. In fairness to all those that did play the Course, I decided not to accept a 2 from a pair who only played 5 Holes - then walked to 17 (along with at least 1 other pair) the decision to do this and DQ any pair in breach of not 'informing the committee' has been made under rule 33.7. I did seek advise first before making the decision to DQ and furthermore not to accept the 2.
I also applied the club rule not to give any shots back (to those who only played 5 holes) due to not playing the minimum requirement of 10 holes. This was introduced a few years ago after it was discovered that some players in bad weather decided to play 1 hole, and then enter their card in order to get 0.1 back (on the old system).
So that now leaves us with 2 weeks left of the WL, and our leaders in the league have 1 hand on the trophy I would say with a massive 12 point lead, they will be difficult to catch - but it has happened before that such a lead was pegged back on the last week, its down to those below to win one of the last 2 weeks to make it interesting.
Next Sundays Format will be American Greensomes, Both Drive off, play your own second shot - then pick the best and alternate (Remember whoever's best shot you pick, the other player must play it)
Have a Good week ahead
