Morning all
Before I get into the Winter league developments of yesterday, I would like to Thank Mr Captain (Featured Image) for his year in office, and I hope he enjoyed all that the position gives you, from his First day until he hands over the reigns to the Vice tonight at the AGM. We all know and humbly have to admit, that behind every man there lies a Great Woman and I know Steve would be the first to admit he could not have given as much as he did if it wasn't for Sue, despite everything that was going on Personally - Thank you Mr Captain for a great year, and Good luck to Mr Vice in his year as Captain.
How Cold was it!!
Well it has to be said that yesterday had to be one of the coldest golfing days I have had at Royal Bury during all my time there - That was proper Grotty / dank conditions, the course played very Long, especially 2,4 and 6 - But we got round and completed week 15 of the League - only 4 more to go.
Results
Our Winners on the day, despite spending most of the Time near the Relegation spots in the league, where Tony Ambrose and Alan Lyons, in their first ever WL. Their Score of 68 was good enough to take the spoils and the Money, and not only that Steve had a 2 at 10 and another at 15 (tony also got a 2 at 14, but that wasn't a counting hole) - and with 2's paying £11 a 2, it as a nice little £22 bonus for them on top of their winnings. Runners up on the day where Mr Toole and Mr Waddup with 67 - their 2nd Runners up win in the last 4 weeks, catapulting them into contention of a top four finish - However not a good time to lose shots a week before they play in the Matchplay Final.
Knockout Results / Champions
The 2nd Semi final of the Jones Jug took place yesterday between Holty / Mozzer and Ged / Carl - Unfortunately for Holty and Mozzer it was another defeat in a Knockout Comp, after losing in the Quarter Final of the Best crd to Cosmo the other week, Unlucky lads, the Treble has now gone, just like somebody else's Quad!!!! In the Final of the Wiselow best card, our Winners this year are Cosmo and Jay, who beat Finny and TP 62 - 59 - Congratulations to the Winners.
The Matchplay Final will be played this coming Sunday 9.30 tee time and will be contested between Ged Burke / Carl North v Ian Toole / Steve Waddup - A new name will go on the Trophy
Nearest Pin Winner
Our winner yesterday was Andy Hall with 26ft 9" - which is the furthest away from the Pin we have had, however it was not an easy opening shot to the first so any shot that hit the Green was a good one, so well done Andy - However I understand an interrogation will be held at the AGM tonight into who Broke the Tape? Thankfully they are a kind and generous bunch in the WL and we now have a replacement thanks to TP, which would have been needed twice over to measure yesterdays Winner. £13.20 has been credited to your Pro Shop account and a place in the shoot out final is yours.
League Table
The knockouts may have been lost, but there was some consolation in losing yesterday and that was that Mozzer / Holty picked up 10 points, and take an 8 point lead over their nearest Rivals - Mr Daniels and Mr Bullard who are trying to go under the Radar this year - don't worry I am watching your scores every week!! They hold a further 8 point lead over 'Hair Flick' and 'Passport 2' who are heading a tigthly bunched group of pairs within 6 points of them. I hope to paying out the top 10 pairs in the league this year, but I shall wait until the last week to make that decision.
Just in case any of you are wondering what the Colour Coding is on the League Table, there is a small legend at the bottom to explain it, and of course some pairs have not played 14 rounds yet - so none of their scores will be knocked off. If you have lost a score it will be highlighted in purple, if within the Knocking of weeks a square is yellow, it means that you have not beaten your worst score. Any questions on the knocking off, then please let me know.
In the event of there being a Tie for the Winners of the league, it will be done on Count back - best 13 Scores, best 12 and so on until a winner can be found.
Subs Used
Please check the Subs used Spreadsheet just in case you may need to Plan your last 4 weeks in the League if you need one - Remember, no more than 6 subs can be used and no sub can be used more than 3 Times, if you do need to break those rules, then you can, but you will not get any WL points, but you can still enter and Win the Comp.
If by chance you are out playing with Richie this coming weekend, then be aware of him walking in front of you on the Course, this weekend he has been the 'Ball Magnet' after being floored by Ollie on Saturday, you would of thought he had learnt his lesson - alas not, as Kenny the Assassin Owen, floored him again on Sunday with a well hit 3 wood, right into the Kidneys 😂😂😂😂
Next Sundays Format will be 4BBB S/Ford - 2's Hole will be 17 Only (If Open - if not another will be nominated)
Hope to see you at the AGM tonight
Have a great week - Kex
