NWMGA Team Match - Week 8 Ellesmere Home

So the 2nd part of the Season began with the first return match of the season against Ellesmere at Home. We suffered a 4.5 - 3.5 loss in the First game of the season back in May, and although 3.5 points on a visit to any of the Away clubs is always a good return, it was still a defeat, despite great individual performances by some of the lads. The Team had more or less picked itself after the great 6-2 win at Worsley the week before, however due to Flanny moving from the Low section to the High section, then we had to draft Si Daniels straight back after his enforced lay off that week - Not the worst player to draft in to the Team. Unfortunately for Les it meant he was then demoted back to the Bench for last Night - So could we avenge the defeat and carry on our great form....................

Match / Player Report

Dave Flanagan
Dave Flanagan
Flanny went out first, for his first outing in the High section after his Handicap went from 9.0 to 9.6. He had to give 3 shots to his opponent and after being 2 up after 12, lost 13,14 and 15, to stand on the 16th 1 down with 3 to play, however the 'Ginger Wizard' has not won 4 out of 4 without showing some fight, and fight he did as he came off 18 winning 1 up and making it 5 from 5 - and also cementing his place in 2nd spot in the Order of merit on 16 Points - 👏👏👏👏
Gaz Hall
Gaz Hall
Gaz Was next on the Tee, giving his opponent 1 shot and hoping to keep his winning streak going, as he was also on 4 wins out of 4 so far for the Season. Despite Holding up the Field on occasion, Gaz Battled his way to another Victory and won 4n3 to make it 5 wins out of 5 and lead the order of Merit on 17 Points. For those wondering why he has 1 more point than Flanny, its simply because Gaz has won 1 more away game than Flanny. 👏👏👏👏
Andy Hall
Andy Hall
Andy was next out Following his Bro, and remarkably looking for his first home win of the season, as he had won 3 games away from home already, and this was only his 2nd game at Home. Not to disappoint and even though he gave his opponent a Shot (the same player he battered at Ellesmere earlier in the season), and Won 4n2 (Ironically Andys record stands at 4 Wins and 2 Losses, and he has played more games than anybody)👏👏👏👏
Colin Stephenson
Colin Stephenson
Cosmo was another hoping to carry on his run of not losing, as he gave his opponent 2 shots. As he has just started a new Job at the PO lately - then I am sure we could quite easily give him a name such as the 'Postman' more akin to Mr Poulter in the Pro ranks, however I think we shall stick with 'Cosmo' - He Won his game 3n2 and kept his unbeaten run going and I am sure we can see much more on the 'Horizon'! 👏👏👏👏👏
Dave Richardson
Dave Richardson
Richie was involved in a Scratch match and soon went in to an early lead of 2 up after 3 - This Form kept on going and when 4 up stood on 15 - he duly drove the green with his opponent fining the high ground neat the ladies 11th Tee, and the rest was history as he won 4n3, much to the delight of young Ollie👏👏👏👏👏
Markham Bullard
Markham Bullard
Morecambe was another involved in a scratch match, but soon had the better of his opponent and never looked back. He Eventually cruised to a 6n5 Victory making it 3 wins and 1 draw form his 4 games 👏👏👏👏👏
Ross Speight
Ross Speight
Ross played their Team Captain Dean Osbourne - and it is not the First time they have paired up, not only in the NWMGA but also in the BDGA, when Dean was a member at Walmersley. This was again another Scratch Match and there was nothing in it until the last Hole, with Ross being 1 down on the Tee, he picked a bad time to 'Cock-up' (Ross's words not mine) and eventually lost 2 Down 🪓🪓🪓🪓
Si Daniels
Si Daniels
Si Was drafted back in to the team due to Flanny moving to the High Section, and was the named low Sub for the week. He was getting 4 shots off his Scratch opponent, and set about business as normal, even though he was as grumpy and down as ever - He won 2 n 1 and is another who has not lost this season winning 4 and drawing 1 👏👏👏👏👏

A truly great win by 7-1, puts us in a great position in the league, as I think we will go top for at least another 24 Hours, if not a week as we await the result from tomorrow nights game - Rochdale v Stand. Unfortunately with all the High men winning it means Les will be on the Bench again next week away at Stand Thursday 11th July. Not the Greatest place to report from without getting Mobile and going round to Stand lane - but I am sure i can sort something out. Thanks again for the Support last night to our Chairman and of course 'Radar' Richardson for some on course Reporting - Thanks to james as well for the mobility Truck to escort the Chairman about - even though the battery got low quickly, and I did have to get it back to charge - appreciated anyway.

Great Performance Lads with some big wins - I hope you are all enjoying it much as I am 👍

Good luck to all who are playing in the Club Championship (Summer Meeting) which consists of 2 rounds, Round 1 Saturday and Round 2 Sunday.
