Winter League Week 1 - Format Both to Score Every Hole - S/Ford

Mick's Report...

Good Morning / Afternoon

Welcome to the WL weekly Newsletter, and welcome to all our new / returning Winter Leaguers.

Well done to all those that went out and braved the conditions yesterday, which despite the warnings did not really materialise - which is easy for me to say I know, whilst sat in the house watching Laura Klunsberg ripping the the Russian ambassador a new Bottom - some even finished with Heat Lumps - Just saying!!

Eamon SaleSteve 'Nutty' NuttallThe Format played yesterday is always a tough one, but something different for some of you, which is what the WL is all about and having varying formats over the xx weeks that we play. The winning score yesterday was surprisingly low for the Format, however I think we can attribute that to the weather most of the Field had to endure for their 18 Holes. Our Winners on the Day where Eamon / Nutty (Pictured Left) with 66 Points (I am hoping before this gets published My Editor updates this so I can put pictures on of the winners - bit of a Rogues Gallery each week), helped by Nuttys first shot which hit the Green some 12ft 6" from the Pin - and went on to win the First NP of the season. Having said that Craig 'Woody' Wood got a little excited with his Tee shot at the First, and appended his name to the list, only to find he was outside Nuttys Thinned 3 Wood shot 😒😒!! Runners up on the Day was 'Our Kid' and Sean Kelly with 65 Points - Bit of a mixed Day for them really, as they progressed in their Best Card KO, but lost in their Matchplay to Si and Morecambe on the 1st Extra hole - But well done to the winners and ruuners up on the Day 👏👏👏

Only 2 x 2's recorded on the Day - Dave Parkinson and John Ennis - Parky on the 1st and John on the 10th - A couple of other 2's had been recorded, but not on the Nominated Holes unfortunately. The 2's where worth £32 - £16 per player 👏👏👏

We did have a DQ this week with Kenny 'Always' Owen and Nashy, as they had signed for an incorrect Handicap, with Nashy being off+2 and not 'Scratch' as his card stated - It is up to YOU to check the handicap on the card is correct as per the attached Handicap List - Remember your WL handicap will be different to your club one, this is due to the fluctuation each week in the WL.

Next Weeks Format will be Canadian Greensomes - Both Drive off, then play each others 2nd Shot - Pick the best and alternate - So if you pick your partners 2nd shot, you must play the 3rd, him the 4th ect until in the Hole. Both tee off on next Tee and repeat - any issues let me know.

Ged Burke Pints Later

Finally this week, we did have a fourball that decided not to go out and play due to the 'Expected Storm'. Their Tee time at 11.15, was duly cancelled and they decided to do their own things on the day. The Fourball was Ged Burke / Carl North - Paul Jones (Raffa) / Steve Armitt, 3 of these made the best of their time with their Sweethearts - Ged went on the Falling down water all day, and as you can see from the Selfie this Morning, he Duly Fell down on his way home - Moral of the Story is Stop drinking with the Big Boys and play golf - at least the Grass is soft when you fall!
